“My Eclectus enjoys this!”

Greengo enjoys it. Notice I said enjoys not loves. He plays with it here and there but not one of his favorites. As soon as I put it in his cage he was attracted to its many colors and immediately went to investigate. This toy is larger that expected… Read more

“Great (but chain/hook needs to be changed –> it’s zinc)”

Great toy but sadly the chain/hook needs to be changed. It’s magetic and therefore conains zinc/lead which is known to kill all birds. Just replace it with a stainless steel chain/hook or cotton rope.Always test anything metal with a magnet… Read more

“Nice bird toy”

We have three caiques and one quaker parrot, and any good parrot owner knows that these birds have a psychological need to chew. The toy sold here allows for that through a combination of softer fiber woven together in the circles, along with the harder… Read more

“All time favorite”

I usually buy this toy at my local pet store for less. But I’ve been sick and without a car and Sunny really was missing his favorite toy. This is like the 4th one he’s had and he went nutty when I put it in his cage today! He’s a somewhat bipolar sun… Read more

  1. Hi! First of all thank you for this clarifying and entertaining article! 🙂
My daughter keeps asking for a pigeon for a year now, so we decided to buy one. I started seeking for toys for it, but there is one question always comes into me mind when thinking about bird-toys. Can birds get bored of the toys? If yes, are there toys which has a lower potential to get bored of? It’s hard for me to decide when I’ve got no clue about the whole topic… 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Adam

    1. They say you should rotate the toys as they do get bored just like humans do. Don’t know much about pigeons though as have never owned one

  2. Haha I didn’t know birds liked toys. I’m sure some birds wouldn’t give a toy two thoughts though. Some of the comments in your reviews for those toys suggest that a time I last longer than another toy because of how much the birds play with it. Thankfully they don’t seem too expensive.

    Great page!

  3. Hi there. I have been looking for this information and here is why!

I have a friend of mine, well they are a couple and they have purchased a parrot from the local pet store after constant harassment from their daughter.

Already after a few days they are going insane and the bird literally will not relax and is constantly making noise.

I suggested some kind of toy to put inside the cage but I did not have a first clue as to the amount of toys available.

What would be the best one for a parrot?

    Thanks

    Chris

    1. First of all a lot of attention will help. Setting the rules also helps, like covering the cage when the bird is making a noise for nothing. Maybe try a mirror. It could be a bit lonely, or it is maybe still adjusting to its new surroundings.

  4. I didn’t know there were such elaborate toys for birds. Even a play phone I’m amazed! Years ago we used to have a budgie and at the time its toys consisted of a mirror, a bell and a swing. Anything that can stop a bird from getting bored must be good although I would prefer the natural toys that the birds can chew. I wonder does it take long for a parrot to destroy something like the Chewy Bird Toy?

    1. My parrot goes through wooden toys like there is no tomorrow, so no they don’t last long. Cockatiels tend to look after their toys a bit better.
